For this menswear winter collection, Miuccia Prada continues on the path she took for womenswear summer 10, a re-see of the 60's and 70's thru the eyes of the 90's. And it is even more clear for this menswear collection than it was for the womens, you can feel the mods touch but in an odd way, this odd way is the one of the 90's, think return of the british musical movements with the Brit Pop, think Oasis and Blur ( Oasis Supersonic intro was mixed in with other big 90's musical moments such as Nirvana all along the show music ). So Don't look back in anger at those shrinkened wool jumper, military like overcoats with prints specially when the womenswear showed along the mens this season mostly consisted of "Beattles suits".

Stranger Than Life - Chapter I - by Renee W.M. Lindell

This month I was inspired by using black, white and red as main theme in illustration series, concentrated on four labels. Two of whom I’m sure need no introduction which is Prada and Mark Fast, and the other two I’m sure you will hear more about shortly but would like to start promoting them already here; “Duffy Jewelry“ and “Tuesday Night Band Practice”.

Duffy Jewelry is a new up and coming designer specialist on silver with a lot of rock n´roll attitude. I meet him at London Jewellery week this autumn and the buyers were literally queuing for having a word with the designer who made Silver Knuckle-dusters with inspiration from Edward Scissor-hand and Wolverine from X-men. His pieces are in illustration 3 and silver necklace in Ill. 4. Next label I am proud to introduce is TNBP, or “Tuesday Night Band Practice”. Both a band and a label consistent of 4 friends whom all meet on travelling trips in Indonesia, got together and the rest history as they say. What I absolutely love with these guys is the fact that they are proper rock n´roll.. they get their inspiration from both dead and present rock icons that they look up to, take that inspiration and a pure love for good denim, washed-out t-shirts with good prints and soft leather garments.. all you need for going to a concert head banging your way through the night!

Menswear Fall 09 - "Control I'm Here"

Power outfits it is.
It s all about control. The germanic sharpness, the almost impressionist feel it gives. A silhouette that aknowledges past but project itself towards the future, this german "sehnsucht", concept of nostalgia for something that hasn't happened yet. A very cinematic atmosphere where Fritz Lang's characters would be at ease.
"Control I'm Here" from Nitzer Ebb with it's martial and powerful rythm brings the contemporary energy to which the Hugo and Prada man could march along. Join in the Chant !
