Laitinen Summer Patterns

Finish siblings menswear label Laitinen comes back with a second opus for Spring Summer 12, their first ever capsule collection dedicated to prints, with abstract prints inspired by smayed crayons and crushed roses. In the past seasons prints have grown into a signature for the label, all prints being developped by photographer and long time collaborator Chirs Vidal.
Laitinen prints are addictive and whenever you start wearing it you'll just want more and more ...

A Passage In Time

LAITINEN
Fall Winter 2011-12

For their Fall Winter 2011-12 presentation, Laitinen brought the fashion pack out of a bright white parisian street down deep stairs into a dark cave. A guest mentioned it was like being in Paris at 2pm upstairs and in Berlin at 2am downstairs, indeed down in the cave ( where a swingers club used to be based ! ) it was not a regular standing models presentation but a party, somehow reminding me of the opening sequence the "The Hunger" with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve. Models danced on D.A.F, drank beers and the cigarette smoke was thick and felt exotic in those days of clean non-smocking clubs.
The collection is pure Laitinen, abstract prints on refined fabrics, feminine elements transposed into masculinity with a take on uniforms and some russian influences. Going back to reality leaving the cave was highly difficult, sure thing is future owners of those looks will be taking a passage in time and space.

LAITINEN - Fall 10

For their first presentation in Paris, after two shows in Milan, the finish sibling Anna and Tuomas LAITINEN show a collection that plays with a contrast of rich and austere. Inspired by the photographs of Finnish juvenile prisoners in the 19th century; that had no prison uniforms, and so had to served their time wearing what they had on when entering jail. This led to an eclectic yet Spartan mix of fabrics and codes of dressing. In thei Fall Winter 10 collection those inspirations are interpreted with a clean and modern take, double-breasted coats and classic biker jackets have a surprise back of furry Tibetan lamb and formal tailoring is transformed into wrap jackets and waistcoats in washed wools. The prints are designed in collaboration with photographer Chris Vidal as in all the previous Laitinen collections.
